A delegation of representatives of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus paid an official visit to the Laboratory of High Energy Physics early in June. The delegation included Alexander Shumilin, Academician Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics, and Informatics of NAS of Belarus, Maksim Bogdanovich, Director of SSI “B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of NAS of Belarus”, Yuri Kernasovskiy, Director of JSC “Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials”, Gennady Aronov, Director of SI “Center for Geophysical Monitoring of NAS of Belarus”, Sergey Lemeshevsky, Director of SSI “Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Belarus”, Alexey Pavlyuchik, Deputy Director for Science, Head of the Research and Production Center “Technology” of JSC “Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials”, Dmitry Shelkovy, Deputy Head of the Сentre “Fundamental Interaction and Astrophysics” of the Stepanov Institute of Physics of NAS of Belarus, and Arkady Aronov, Chief Researcher of SI “Center for Geophysical Monitoring of NAS of Belarus”.
The guests were accompanied by JINR Vice-Director V. Kekelidze: “We invite interested people, experts and young specialists from Belarus to actively participate in the implementation of the NICA megaproject. There are numerous opportunities and mutual interest for this.”
Anatoly Sidorin gave a fascinating tour of building 1. Alyona Kotova hosted guests at the magnet factory. Stepan Vereschagin told colleagues the details of the construction of the TPC detector for MPD, and Igor Tyapkin shared the secrets of the construction of the unique MPD electromagnetic calorimeter implemented in projective geometry.
